Spooky season is here and Halloween candy is everywhere you turn, but fear not! π
π» Boo, Reader!
Before we get into my favorite candy swaps, let me say this:
If you really want the Reese's... eat the Reese's. Do not stress yourself out. Give yourself some grace and indulge, but try not to go overboard.
Now, if you're buying candy for the house, filling treat bags, or just want something sweet around that doesn't come with quite as much sugar, artificial coloring, and a mile-long ingredient list, there are some REALLY good alternatives I love, and are toddler approved!
A few swaps worth trying:
π« Instead of Reese's β try Justin's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups
π¬ Instead of M&M's β try UNREAL Chocolate Gems
π Instead of sour/gummy candy β try SmartSweets or YumEarth
π₯₯ Instead of Almond Joy β try UNREAL Dark Chocolate Coconut Bars
π« Instead of a traditional chocolate bar β look for Tonyβs Chocolonely chocolate

And please remember, you don't have to avoid candy completely to support your blood sugar.
If you're having candy, try having it after a balanced and full meal instead of grabbing it on an empty stomach.
Protein + fiber + healthy fats first can help slow digestion and create a much steadier glucose response.
After your meal and indulging in dessert, go for a 10-minute walk.
Your muscles can actually use some of that circulating glucose for energy, which is one of the simplest blood-sugar lowering habits I recommend to my patients.
A healthy, stress-free night around food would ideally look like this:
βͺ Eat dinner with a balance of protein, fiber, and healthy fats
βͺ Have the bites of candy you've been eyeing
βͺ Take a walk around the neighborhood
βͺ π» Enjoy Halloween π
