St. Patrick’s Day Reminder: Your Health Isn’t About Luck
Hello Reader!
With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, we start seeing shamrocks everywhere and hearing about the “luck of the Irish.” 🍀
But when it comes to your health, feeling good in your body usually isn’t about luck.
Most of the patients I see come in feeling like their symptoms appeared out of nowhere.
They say things like:
- “I eat pretty healthy… why am I still bloated?”
- “My skin suddenly started breaking out again.”
- “I’m exhausted all the time, but my labs were ‘normal.’”
- “My cycles feel all over the place lately.”
It can feel like your body just randomly decided to stop cooperating. But in reality, symptoms are usually signals, not bad luck.
In naturopathic medicine, we spend a lot of time looking for the why behind those signals.
- Sometimes it’s blood sugar imbalance quietly affecting hormones.
- Sometimes it’s gut health impacting inflammation and skin.
- Sometimes it’s nutrient depletion from stress, medications, or lifestyle.
- And sometimes the root cause is something simple that hasn’t been looked at yet.
The good news? Once we start uncovering those patterns, many people begin to feel dramatically better.
If You’ve Been Feeling “Unlucky” With Your Health…
There are a few ways to start getting clarity.
1. Schedule a consultation. During appointments, we go through your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and previous labs to identify possible root causes.

2. Run functional lab testing. Sometimes the missing piece is deeper testing that looks at things like hormones, gut health, micronutrients, or metabolic markers. If you’re someone who prefers to explore labs independently first, you can browse functional testing options here:

Many patients like this option because it gives them the opportunity to explore what might be going on beneath the surface.
3. Start with foundational support. Even before diving into deeper testing, many people benefit from strengthening some of the basic pillars of health.
A few categories I often recommend include:
A high-quality multivitamin to fill nutritional gaps.
Digestive or gut-support supplements if bloating or digestion is a concern
Blood sugar or metabolic support to help stabilize energy and hormones
These aren’t magic fixes, but they can be helpful tools while working toward a deeper root-cause plan.
Your Body Is Always Communicating
One of my favorite things about practicing naturopathic medicine is helping patients realize that their symptoms aren’t random.
Your body is constantly sending feedback. Fatigue, skin changes, digestive issues, hormone shifts, and mood fluctuations are all clues about what your body needs more (or less) of. When we start listening to those signals instead of ignoring them, health often begins to shift in powerful ways.
So if you’ve been feeling a little “unlucky” with your health lately, take it as a sign that your body may just need a different approach.
And sometimes, a little investigation is all it takes to turn things around.
Wishing you a happy and healthy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀
