Hello Reader,

Let’s talk about something that almost everyone struggles with, but few people truly understand: Sleep.

Not just getting sleep, but getting deep, restorative, hormone-supporting sleep.

Because here’s the truth: You can be in bed for 8+ hours and still wake up exhausted. And that’s usually a sign that your sleep quality (not just the amount of hours you're sleeping) is off.

What your body is actually doing while you sleep

Sleep isn’t just “rest.” It’s one of the most active healing states your body goes through.

While you’re asleep, your body is:

  • Repairing tissues and muscles
  • Regulating hormones like cortisol, insulin, and estrogen
  • Supporting detoxification (especially in the brain)
  • Strengthening your immune system
  • Consolidating memory and cognitive function

This is why poor sleep is so closely linked to:

  • Hormone imbalances
  • Blood sugar dysregulation
  • Acne and skin issues
  • Gut dysfunction
  • Low energy and burnout

The 4 stages of sleep (and why they matter)

Your body cycles through different sleep stages every ~90 minutes:

  1. Light Sleep (Stage 1 & 2) - This is where your body starts to slow down: heart rate drops, muscles relax.
  2. Deep Sleep (Stage 3) - This is the most physically restorative phase. Your body repairs tissues, builds bone and muscle, and strengthens immunity.
  3. REM Sleep (Rapid Eye Movement) - This is where dreaming happens, and where your brain does a lot of emotional processing and memory consolidation.

👉 If you’re not getting enough deep and REM sleep, you’ll wake up feeling like you never slept at all.

Signs your sleep quality might be off

  • You wake up tired (even after a full night)
  • You rely on caffeine to function
  • You wake up between 2–4am consistently
  • You feel wired at night but exhausted during the day
  • You have hormone or blood sugar imbalances

How to fall asleep faster (and stay asleep longer)

This is where I always start with patients before we even talk about supplements:

Stabilize your blood sugar at night - If your blood sugar drops while you sleep, your body releases cortisol to compensate, which can wake you up at 2–4am.

  • Try a balanced dinner with protein, healthy fats, and fiber
  • If needed, a small protein-rich snack before bed can help

Create a “wind-down” routine (this is a big deal!) - Your body doesn’t just switch into sleep mode, you have to guide it there with an effective sleep hygiene routine.

  • Dim lights 1–2 hours before bed
  • Avoid scrolling or high-stimulation content
  • Try reading, stretching, or a warm shower

Support your nervous system - If you feel “tired but wired,” your nervous system is likely stuck in a stress response.

  • Breathwork, journaling, or even 5–10 minutes of stillness can help
  • Taking magnesium, herbal teas, or calming adaptogens can be incredibly supportive here when you feel like you need that extra support to wind down.

Get morning sunlight (don’t skip this) - This is one of the most underrated sleep hacks.

Morning light exposure helps regulate your circadian rhythm so your body naturally produces melatonin at night. Aim for 5–15 minutes of sunlight within an hour of waking.

Be mindful of caffeine timing - Caffeine has a long half-life, meaning that afternoon coffee can still affect your sleep at night. Try cutting off caffeine by ~12–2pm and see how your sleep changes.

A gentle sleep support I’ve been loving lately

If you’ve been doing all the right things but still struggling to wind down at night, this is where a targeted formula can really help.

Lately, I’ve been recommending a sleep support blend that combines calming nutrients and herbs to help your body transition into a more relaxed, parasympathetic state before bed.

What I like about it is that it’s not about “knocking you out," it’s about supporting your body’s natural sleep cycles, which is what we actually want long-term.

Pro-tip: NOOCI's Sleep + Relax is best in warm water.

Sleep is one of the most underrated foundations of health. If your sleep is off, your hormones, gut, energy, and skin will feel it too.

Start simple: Focus on your nighttime routine, your blood sugar, and your stress levels; and if needed, layer in the right kind of support.

Your body wants to rest, you just have to give it the right environment to do so.

Hello Reader! Whether this day holds deep spiritual meaning for you, or simply feels like a gentle shift into a new season, I hope it brings you a sense of peace, renewal, and hope. For me, Easter is a reminder of something we all experience in different ways: the rhythm of life... The hard seasons, the waiting, the uncertainty… and then, the quiet return of light. A reminder that things can be restored. That healing is possible. That even after the heaviest moments, something new can emerge....

Most of the patients I see come in feeling like their symptoms appeared out of nowhere. They say things like: “I eat pretty healthy… why am I still bloated?” “My skin suddenly started breaking out again.” “I’m...
