Thank you to our Veterans

Hello Reader,

Today we pause, reflect, and honor the men and women who have served our country with courage, resilience, and sacrifice. Veterans Day is a reminder of the freedom and peace we cherish—a gift that so many of our brave service members and their families have selflessly defended.

As we pay tribute to their strength, let us also acknowledge the wounds, both seen and unseen, that many veterans carry. In my practice, I am reminded every day that true healing goes beyond the physical. Like our veterans, many of us face battles that require strength, patience, and community support. My mission is to provide a safe space for that healing journey, whether it’s balancing hormones, supporting mental health, or finding peace in our everyday wellness routines.

A Veterans Day Prayer for Peace and Protection:

God of peace, we pray for those who have served our nation and have laid down their lives to protect and defend our freedom. We pray for those who have fought, whose spirits and bodies are scarred by war, whose nights are haunted by memories too painful for the light of day. We pray for those who serve us now, especially for those in harm’s way. Shield them from danger and bring them home. Turn the hearts and minds of our leaders and our enemies to the work of justice and a harvest of peace. Spare the poor, Lord, spare the poor! May the peace you left us, the peace you gave us, be the peace that sustains, the peace that saves us. Christ Jesus, hear us! Lord Jesus, hear our prayer! Amen.

As we move forward, I encourage you to think about how you can bring peace into your life and into the lives of others. Perhaps it’s through nourishing your body, connecting with loved ones, or taking time to rest and reflect.

Ways to Honor the Spirit of Veterans Day:

  • Practice Compassion and Connection: Our veterans have shown us the power of unity. Reach out to someone who may need support, whether it’s a veteran, a family member, or a friend.
  • Nurture Yourself: In honoring others, we are often reminded of the importance of nurturing our own health. If you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, consider trying practices like mindful breathing, whole foods nutrition, and restful sleep—foundations that bring balance and calm to our everyday lives.
  • Reflect on Gratitude: Today, write down three things you’re grateful for, big or small. Gratitude is one of the simplest ways to bring peace and perspective into our hearts.

On this Veterans Day, we honor those who have served and continue to serve our country. May their courage inspire us all to live with gratitude, purpose, and compassion.

In gratitude and wellness,

Dr. Francesca Medina, ND
